This itinerary balances exhilarating sailing with opportunities to explore charming coastal towns and scenic anchorages.

Day 1: Port Hamble Marina to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight

  • Distance: 18 nautical miles
  • Highlights:
    • Depart from Port Hamble Marina
    • Sail West through the Solent, enjoying views of the coastline
    • Arrive at Yarmouth, a picturesque harbour town on the Isle of Wight.
    • Explore Yarmouth Castle and enjoy a meal at one of the local pubs.

Day 2: Yarmouth to Poole Harbour

  • Distance: 25 nautical miles
  • Highlights:
    • Sail West past Hurst Castle and The Needles.
    • Navigate through Christchurch Bay and into Poole Harbour
    • Anchor near Brownsea Island or moor in Cobbs Quay Marina
    • Visit Brownsea Island, famous for its wildlife and beautiful walks.

Day 3: Poole Harbour to Weymouth

Day 6: Salcombe to Cowes, Isle of Wight

    • Another long day of sailing, so depart early
    • Sail East along the coast, passing Start Point and then across Lyme Bay
    • Arrive at Cowes on the Isle of Wight, the home of British yachting
    • Moor in Cowes Yacht Haven or Shepards Wharf Marina.
    • Explore Cowes and its maritime heritage.

Day 7: Cowes to Port Hamble Marina

  • Distance: 10 nautical miles
  • Highlights:
    • A short sail to conclude your trip
    • Navigate back through the Solent, enjoying the busy waterway
    • Return to Port Hamble Marina
    • Spend some time exploring Hamble-le-Rice, a charming village known for its sailing heritage.
